Andy Munro

Andy Munro is a world-renowned acoustics expert. He was awarded the 2020 Samuel L. Warner Memorial Medal for his contributions to sound reproduction and has received several Lifetime Achievement Awards for his work in the audio industry.

As founder of Dynaudio Acoustics and in other roles, Andy has worked as an engineer and designer with some of the world’s biggest bands and audio companies. He has designed studios for AIR, Metropolis, Universal Music Group, Coldplay and BBC Broadcasting House.

Andy joined Shure Brothers in 1973 after studying Mechanical Engineering in London. After a period in the HIFI Division he spent five years developing the professional microphone and sound system business, working in all areas of pro-audio. After further study in electro-acoustics he started an independent design, installation and consultancy company in 1980.

Over his career, Andy has developed strong relationships with major film, broadcast and music studios, including Pinewood-Shepperton, Elstree, Buena Vista (Disney), Warner Bros and many others. Andy has worked closed with Dolby to promote high quality multi-channel sound studios including their own prestige theatres in London and India. He is a lifetime member of the Audio Engineering Society and The Institute of Acoustics.
